As Bob Proctor co-author of The 11 Forgotten Laws asks, “Do you know, we could very easily call this the Law of Praise, because whatever you praise grows? I don’t care if it’s a plant, if it’s money, or if it’s a person’s self esteem.”
Now this law is new to me, but based upon 14 years of raising children, I can most certainly attest to the self esteem part. I have always been a firm believer in positive reinforcement and I have praised and complimented my children thousands upon thousands of times. There is no doubt in my mind that this has raised the confidence level in my children. All three are doing well in school academically and socially. No doubt they are and will continue to achieve their desires, because they think they can.
They know they can.
The Law of Attraction knows no bounds.
When I tell my children how fantastic they are, they believe they truly are. When you hear something a bazillion times, you start to believe it. What would make you feel better about your day and yourself? – “You are awesome, you can do anything.” or “You’re not all that great, why even try?” The answer is easy. Focus on the awesome.
Have you ever seen the look on a person’s face when they are forced to take criticism? It’s not pretty. Their discomfort is palpable, you can feel it a mile away. Who’s idea was it that so-called “constructive criticism” is a good thing?
But, on the other hand, watch as a person takes praise. They glow. They grow. You can feel it. It’s very pleasant. The chances are this person will perform even better in the future simply because they feel good about what they are doing.
So when we pray and “praise god,” what is that all about? Our habit is to list off our wants, needs and grievances when we pray. Instead, we can thank and praise. “Thank you God for all the wonderful things in my life.” List off the good things. Thank God for the wonderful things to come. Prayer should never feel bad. It should be uplifting. Think of all the beautiful things in your life and thank God for them, whether they are in your future or in your now.
According to Jerry and Esther Hicks, authors of The Law of Attraction and Ask and It Is Given, “Every time you appreciate something, every time you praise something, every time you feel good about something, you are telling the Universe: ‘More of this, please.’ You need never make another verbal statement of intent – and if you are mostly in a state of appreciation, all good things will flow to you.” It pays to feel good.
You know, I wasn’t all that into these 11 Forgotten Laws when I started this. But the more I read, the more I understand about how to use The Law of Attraction. I am learning to adjust the way I live my life and how I think so as to get the most enjoyment and success out of every single day. Often I slip and start sliding back into negativity again. Sometimes I even wallow a bit. But eventually, I realize it’s time to go back to the good side and bring myself back up. It’s then that I start counting my blessings and realize that at any given time, things could be a whole lot worse. When You think of the things you lack, it can be depressing. However, when you think of the good things you have, you immediately feel better. With practice I’m learning to hold the good feelings for longer periods of time. When I am down, I am able to bring myself up so much sooner than before.
“Be ever grateful for the very least of things and the very most will come to you.” – Bob Proctor
